Inspiration: Mark Horst

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

In February 2019, I wrote a post about artists who influence and inspire me in my work with their technique and their works. Most of them I still follow in their work today, although some of them have developed in a completely different direction in the meantime (e.g. Ryan Hewett).

Lately, however, I have been intensively involved with an artist who was not on my radar at the time: the US American Mark Horst from Albuquerque in New Mexico. Although he now works more three-dimensionally with sculptures, he has created a large number of portraits over the last ten years that probably come closest to what I have set as my long-term goal.

So in the near future, I'm going to study Mark Horst's works and his painting technique a little more intensively and try to incorporate these impulses into my upcoming works somehow. Let's see what comes out of it...
